Our Process

"Gettng a US Patent is a multi-step process. We will walk you through the alternatives, but also do the drafting, prepare figures, and prosecute the application, meaning I will interview the Examiner and make your case based on my combined experience of over twenty years working with Examiners for small businesses, corporations and individuals. I take an active role in all steps in the process. Signatures on the Declarations of Inventorship, Assignments, and Power of Attorney are all taken care of by our office. Contractors may be hired for specialist jobs such as searching and illustrating. I will discuss the invention, study any literature you have prepared, and any drawings, and build a first patent application from those threads. I will also search the patent and scientific literature to find similar concepts or products and adapt the application so that a rejection is not straightforward application of existing technology (37 USC 102(a)) and work with you to ensure a 103 rejection is unlikely or overcomeable. I take care of the filing and keep you fully informed. This approach gives us the strongest position to demand a Patent. And of course you may be needed to discuss the invention(s) with the Examiner in support of our arguments. It is a team approach where you are part of the team. I try to make it fun and rewarding. I have a Master's Degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology, but I also have industry exp genomics, fermentation, product process and purificaton, drug development, chemical engineering, hydrogen and fuels, electronics and radio, including broad experience as a pate medical and consumer products and electronics. After COVID, I moved the company out of an office in downtown Seattle and now do all the work by video across the internet. This can be very helpful to busy people because the time is never wasted in travel and waiting. I believe we can be just as creative in video sessions as we can be in an office setting. The company is currently based near Astoria, Oregon. I am interested in Indian Affairs, Salmo River watershed, enjoy the out of doors, and take care of a small ranch near the coast.
